Firefox has affirmed its continued support for the popular ad-blocking extension, uBlock Origin, following Microsoft Edge's decision to phase out support for extensions based on the Manifest V2 architecture.

Edge, built on Chromium, is adopting Manifest V3, a change initiated by Google in Chrome that restricts the capabilities of ad blockers like uBlock Origin. This migration means extensions will lose the necessary functions to effectively block ads. As most major browsers, including Opera, Brave, Vivaldi, and Samsung Browser, are Chromium-based, they are expected to follow suit.

Firefox, which is not based on Chromium, is now the sole major browser guaranteeing full support for uBlock Origin. Other non-Chromium browsers, such as Safari and DuckDuckGo, do not support uBlock Origin. Users who wish to continue using uBlock Origin's full features will find Firefox to be the only remaining option without limitations, as other browsers will either offer a less capable version, uBlock Origin Lite, or rely on their own built-in ad-blocking solutions.
