In the debut of the new Highmark Stadium, the Buffalo Bills defeated the Detroit Lions 41-31 in Thursday night's season opener. Josh Allen accounted for five touchdowns, passing for two and rushing for three, leading Buffalo to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter. James Cook III rushed for 135 yards, including 101 in the first half, while the Bills' defense pressured Jared Goff throughout the game.

Despite a strong second-half performance from Amon-Ra St. Brown, the Lions fell to 1-1. The victory improves Buffalo to 2-0 on the season. Notable performances included Deone Walker's seven quarterback pressures and Cook's 104 rushing yards before first contact.

The Bills' next game is against the Los Angeles Chargers.
