Los Angeles Dodgers closer Edwin Diaz has returned from a monthlong absence due to a neck injury, making him available for Friday's series opener against the San Francisco Giants. Diaz came off the injured list after missing time with the neck issue. The 32-year-old right-hander was available out of the bullpen for the series opener.

Diaz is 2-2 with an 11.85 ERA in 16 games with the Dodgers this season. He signed with the team as a free agent last offseason. During his second IL stint, Diaz made five rehab appearances, allowing six runs and recording four strikeouts in 4⅓ innings.

To make room on the roster, right-hander Landon Knack was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City, a day after throwing four scoreless innings in a win over the Cincinnati Reds.
