If your iPad refuses to charge, the issue is likely with the cable or charging block rather than the tablet itself. Start by using the official first-party charger or a high-quality fast charger, as cheap third-party options may be unreliable or unsafe. The iPad requires a heavier-duty charger than an iPhone — ideally one providing at least 10W of power.

Switch between multiple cables and adapters to rule out peripheral faults. If certain chargers work but others don't, the accessory is bad, not your iPad. Also try different wall outlets. If your iPad has sat unused for weeks or months, its battery may be fully discharged and could take a while before it turns back on.

Extreme temperatures can also cause charging problems. Apple recommends charging in temperatures between 32°F to 95°F. Outside that range, iPadOS may slow or stop charging to protect the lithium-ion battery.

If chargers work with other devices but not your iPad, the charging port may be damaged. Use a flashlight to inspect the port for bent pins or discoloration. If damaged, contact Apple Support for repair options.
