Apple announced at its fall event that iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and watchOS 27 will arrive on September 14. The updates introduce Siri AI, a long-awaited overhaul powered by Google's Gemini models. Early testing shows Siri AI can handle complex questions and multi-step prompts.

However, Siri AI requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, limiting support to three generations. Newer models like the iPhone 17 series offer enhanced on-device performance. iPad support is limited to M1 chips or newer. Beyond Siri, the updates include Liquid Glass design tweaks and new child safety features.

Apple also promises performance improvements across devices. macOS 27 Golden Gate will launch the same day, featuring Siri AI and Mac-specific UI refinements like uniform toolbars and edge-to-edge sidebars.
