Browns Camp: Watson, Sanders QB Battle Heats Up

After a spirited joint practice with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, Browns coach Todd Monken indicated that older starters likely won't play in Saturday's preseason game. Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders split first-team reps, with Watson delivering one of his best throws of camp — connecting with rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion downfield between two defenders. However, Watson struggled in red zone drills, sailing a pass and throwing an interception to Jordan Hancock.

Sanders showed promise during a third-down session, using his cadence to draw the Bills offside and completing passes to Isaiah Bond and Malachi Corley. He also led Cleveland's two-minute drill, driving the length of the field before a late sack and an incompletion in the end zone.

Monken emphasized the importance of evaluating quarterbacks in game-like situations, noting that both exhibition matches will help determine the starter. "Would I like to have a decision today? Of course," Monken said, acknowledging that some players are further along than others.

Among notable observations, rookie wide receiver Denzel Boston has emerged as the team's top performer, earning a promotion to the No. 1 offense as the boundary receiver with his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame and smooth route-running ability.
