Jack Draper made an emotional comeback at the Canadian Open, ultimately suffering a first-round defeat. After a strong start, including winning the second set 6-2, Draper appeared visibly depleted in the third set.

Midway through the deciding set, with his opponent Corentin Atmane leading 4-1, Draper was overcome with emotion and broke down in tears during a change of ends. Atmane went on to win the match and will face Karen Khachanov in the next round.

Draper's participation in the upcoming Cincinnati Open and the US Open, starting August 23, is now in doubt following this incident. In an earlier match, British number five Jacob Fearnley advanced by defeating Adrian Mannarino.
