Luis Binks, 25, Brondby centre-half and captain, is pushing for a Scotland debut against Slovenia on Saturday. With a grandparent from Dunbar, he's among eight uncapped players in Sebastien Pocognoli's squad.

Binks recalls his early days at Montreal Impact in 2020, when Thierry Henry was manager. "I'd been at Tottenham since I was very young, but I just wanted to go and play first-team football," he says. During Covid lockdown, Henry invited him to stay at the Ritz. "One night he rings me and goes, 'do you want to get a pizza?' There's me and him driving around Montreal looking for a pizza. It's a bit surreal."

Binks credits Henry: "I owe a lot to him because he gave me my first chance in senior football." He's since played for Bologna, Como, Coventry, and now Brondby, where he became captain in 2025.

"I woke up every day with it on the top of my mind," he says of the Scotland call-up. "I'm buzzing to be here."
