Shane Lowry broke the course record with an eight-under 62 at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel, taking an 11-under lead at the Amgen Irish Open. He mixed nine birdies with one bogey, finishing three strokes ahead of morning starters Haotong Li and Jacob Skov Olesen. Lowry, the 2009 champion, said, "It was real fun out there."

Rory McIlroy struggled on the greens, carding a second 69 to sit nine off the lead. He described his round as "frustration," adding, "I just didn't have it on the greens." Patrick Reed is four under, while Jon Rahm and Robert MacIntyre are one shot further back.

First-round leader Joaquin Niemann and Tyrrell Hatton were among later starters. MacIntyre shot 65 to reach three under, but Brooks Koepka, at one over, risks missing the cut. Live coverage continues Saturday.
