During its iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo event last week, Apple announced that iOS 27 will be released widely on Monday, September 14. It should be available around 10 a.m. Pacific Time / 1 p.m. Eastern Time tomorrow via the Settings app, under General → Software Update.

Eight new features and changes are coming with iOS 27, with the main attraction being a major revamp of Siri. Siri AI is a ChatGPT-like version of Siri that can answer pretty much anything, draw on personal information stored on your iPhone, use on-screen awareness, and perform actions in more apps. A dedicated Siri app is included, or it can be invoked by pressing and holding the iPhone's side button. Siri AI requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, is limited to English to start, and is subject to daily usage limits. It will not be initially available in the EU on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and watchOS 27.

Other Apple Intelligence features include Extend and Reframe in Photos, photorealistic images in Image Playground, generated Shortcuts, and video descriptions for HomeKit Secure Video cameras. Liquid Glass is refined with more uniform refraction, improved contrast, sharper icons, and a clarity slider. Performance improvements include app launches up to 30% faster, Photos loading up to 70% faster, and AirDrop transfers up to 80% faster. iPhone Handoff lets two iPhones use the same phone number, with T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom first, followed by Verizon and EE.
