NBA Basketball 8-Hour Briefing
×Lakers Star's Dual Challenges
Luka Dončić faces personal legal challenges as he confirmed a custody battle with his fiancée over their two daughters, a matter separate from his on-court conduct. The NBA penalized him $50,000 for directing an inappropriate "money" gesture toward a referee during Sunday's victory over the New York Knicks, a fine stemming from a second-half technical foul.
Injury and Schedule Concerns
Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey will miss at least three weeks after being diagnosed with a tendon injury to his right pinkie, a significant blow to the team's backcourt. This type of season-altering injury reinforces Golden State coach Steve Kerr's renewed call for a shorter schedule, as he reiterated that shaving games from the 82-game slate would benefit player health and the overall product.
