Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić has separated from his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, and is fighting for custody of their two daughters, he revealed to ESPN. The 27-year-old Slovenian guard said he made the 'tough decision' to end their engagement after struggling to have his daughters with him in the U.S. during the NBA season.

TMZ first reported that Goltes filed a petition seeking child support and attorney fees from Dončić, who signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Lakers last August. Sources say the petition was filed in California, though neither daughter has lived there long-term. Dončić claims he had 'no idea' about the filing and has always provided for his family without limitation.

The couple, who began dating in 2016 after knowing each other since youth, welcomed their first daughter Gabriela in November 2023 while Dončić played for the Dallas Mavericks. Their second daughter Olivia was born in Slovenia in December 2025. Dončić missed Lakers games to attend Olivia's birth but has not seen his daughters since December after a disagreement at the maternity hospital.
