Digital Extremes has announced the "Tau" update for Warframe, slated for release in 2026. This significant update will introduce players to the Tau solar system, a region previously only hinted at in the game's lore. Players will explore Fornax, a fallen ring city within the war-torn Tau system, which was originally conceived as a utopia by the Sentient race.

The update features a new detective-themed Warframe named Brysko, who narrates his own internal monologue. Brysko will be central to a noir-inspired quest where players must infiltrate Tau's criminal underworld, which has been affected by a drug called Bloom. Brysko is also noted as a new "chimera frame" type, differentiating him from existing Warframe classes.

Additionally, the Tau update will include a new card game minigame called Portau, along with new melee, primary, and secondary weapons. While a precise launch date for the Tau update is not yet confirmed, the massive humanoid vessels for transit to the new system have already been revealed, suggesting a phased content rollout leading up to the 2026 launch. Prior to this, Warframe will receive the "Iceblade of Narin" update in fall 2026, introducing the game's 66th Warframe and other content.
