VIA Labs has unveiled its new VL819i USB 5 Gbps and VL822i USB 10 Gbps Hub Controllers at Embedded World 2026, expanding its industrial-grade portfolio. These controllers are designed for demanding environments requiring high reliability and bandwidth, including machine vision systems, industrial PCs, and smart retail terminals. The announcement follows VIA Labs' earlier release of industrial USB 2.0 hubs, demonstrating the company's continued focus on robust connectivity solutions for harsh conditions.

Engineered to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C, these hub controllers feature enhanced signal integrity and low-power design. The VL822i model supports Multiple-IN transaction capabilities, allowing it to interleave requests and manage concurrent transactions when paired with USB 10 Gbps hosts. This technology helps reduce system-level latency when multiple USB 5 Gbps devices are connected, improving overall performance and responsiveness in industrial applications.

The controllers come in two configurations: the Q7 version with a 9x9mm QFN76 package optimized for USB-A ports, and the Q8 version with a 10x10mm QFN88 package designed for USB-C with integrated muxes. Both models share the same package and pinout, enabling developers to scale performance without redesigning hardware. VIA Labs emphasizes Pin-to-Pin and Bill-of-Materials compatibility to simplify integration across different product tiers.
