Ubiquiti U7 Mesh Wi-Fi 7 Access Point Debuts at $199

Ubiquiti has launched the U7 Mesh, a new Wi-Fi 7 access point designed for both indoor and outdoor use. The device features an IPx6 rating, making it resistant to water jets and suitable for exterior deployment. This dual-band AP offers a unique design that supports omnidirectional or directional antenna configurations for the 5 GHz radio.

While the U7 Mesh includes a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port for improved wired connectivity, it represents something of a sidegrade from its predecessor. The 5 GHz radio has been downgraded from 4x4 to 2x2, likely due to the limited range of the 6 GHz band in outdoor environments. The AP delivers up to 4.3 Gbps throughput on the 5 GHz band, though this requires devices capable of using 240 MHz wide channels.

The U7 Mesh supports speeds up to 688 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and is powered via PoE with a maximum power consumption of 13 W. Available now for US$199, the device offers a versatile solution for extending Wi-Fi coverage in challenging environments where weather resistance and flexible antenna placement are priorities.
