Turtle Juice Reveals Mechborn Anime Deckbuilder

Brazilian indie studio Turtle Juice announced Mechborn, a roguelike deckbuilder blending '90s mech anime and Greek mythology. The game casts players as elite pilots defending Earth from Kaiju, with a unique Conveyor Belt combat system where cards shift position after each play. A pre-alpha demo is already available.

The core innovation ties your mech's physical parts—Head, Torso, Arms, Legs—directly to your starting deck. Each component adds different cards, meaning swapping parts fundamentally changes your playstyle. Three distinct mech models (Original, Spartan, Olympian) offer further strategic variety, rewarding players who commit to specific builds.

Pilot abilities add a second strategic layer, charging as you play cards to deploy powerful active skills. This system combines with Adaptive Exploration, where there are no fixed paths on the map. You move freely, balancing fuel costs against hunting for upgrades, faction alliances, or research labs to push back the Kaiju threat.

Scheduled for a late 2026 release on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, Mechborn aims for high replayability through dynamic maps, hundreds of cards, and changing encounters. For indie studios, proving that compelling, innovative games can emerge outside traditional hubs remains a key narrative.
