TSMC Reaches 20,000 Wafers/Month on 2nm Node

TSMC has achieved a significant milestone, producing 20,000 wafers per month on its 2 nm (N2) node. This production is concentrated in a single fab, reportedly Fab 20, across five Taiwanese facilities. High-volume production for the N2 node commenced in Q4 2025.

Currently, the N2 node contributes 3% to TSMC's revenue, trailing behind the 3 nm (30%) and 5 nm (33%) nodes. However, the N2 node has seen four times the number of tape-outs compared to the 3 nm node, indicating strong future demand. This is attributed to its GAAFET technology, offering up to a 15% performance boost or 30% power reduction.

Key customers like AMD (for EPYC server CPUs) and Apple (for A20 Pro chips) are among those utilizing the N2 node. While N2's current revenue share is small, the business is progressively shifting towards this advanced technology. For comparison, Intel's 18A node produces around 30,000 wafers per month. TSMC employs ASML's Low-NA EUV machines for N2 manufacturing, with prices expected to rise.
