Thermal Grizzly has begun selling delidded AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPUs for $876.33, significantly above the $500 MSRP. The German company offers these enthusiast-grade processors with a two-year warranty covering manufacturing defects and overclocking within manufacturer specifications, provided adequate cooling is used.

This marks the latest addition to Thermal Grizzly's TG Delidded CPUs program, which previously included the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D. The delidding process involves removing the integrated heat spreader to enable direct-die cooling solutions, potentially improving thermal performance for overclocking enthusiasts.

CEO Roman Hartung, known as Der8auer, demonstrated the delidding process in a YouTube video, showing temperature reductions of approximately 15°C after applying liquid metal and direct-die cooling. The delidded 9850X3D achieved peak CPU core temperatures of 66.1-75.3°C compared to 78-88.2°C with stock cooling, though power draw remained similar at around 178W.
