Sony Cuts PC Ports: Fewer PlayStation Exclusives Coming to PC

Sony is scaling back PC ports of its single-player PlayStation exclusives, according to insider reports from both Jason Schreier and NateTheHate2. The Japanese gaming giant made this strategic shift in 2025, meaning fewer first-party single-player games will make their way to PC platforms. While some PC ports remain in development, they're no longer a priority for Sony.

Steam data supports Sony's decision, showing that even successful titles like Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered peaked at only 66,436 concurrent players. Other ports like Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Forbidden West saw similar modest numbers, with peaks around 40,000-77,000 players. These figures suggest PC ports haven't been the revenue drivers Sony hoped for, despite their commercial success.

This strategy contrasts sharply with Xbox's recent multi-platform approach. Sony appears focused on protecting its hardware ecosystem and console sales rather than expanding to PC. The decision affects primarily single-player games, with live-service and multiplayer titles potentially still receiving PC releases. Games like Death Stranding 2, produced by external studios with PlayStation ties, may still launch on PC despite this policy shift.
