SK Hynix LPDDR6 Mass Production Starts 2026

SK Hynix is moving toward mass production of its next‑generation LPDDR6 memory, with production slated to begin in the second half of 2026, according to the South Korean outlet Herald. Earlier rumors had suggested a first‑half launch, but testing and trial runs finished in March.

The new modules will offer a 16 Gb capacity on the sixth‑generation 10 nm node, known as 1c, and are expected to reach speeds up to 14.4 Gbps. SK Hynix claims this represents a 33 % improvement over LPDDR5X, whose top speed was 10.7 Gbps. This marks a significant step in memory density and performance.

LPDDR6 also promises significant power‑efficiency gains, exceeding 20 % thanks to a sub‑channel structure that allows selective channel activation, and Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS) that adjusts voltage and frequency on the fly. Manufacturers will need to adapt chiplet designs to accommodate the new architecture.

These advances mean higher density, faster performance, and lower power consumption, positioning LPDDR6 as the next standard for mobile and edge computing, and consumers can expect devices to benefit from longer battery life and smoother multitasking.
