Rocket League Gets Linux-Friendly Anti-Cheat Update

Psyonix announced that Rocket League will receive Easy Anti-Cheat support in an April update, nearly a decade after the game's launch. The popular vehicular soccer game will implement anti-cheat measures to prevent DDoS attacks, improve bot detection, and more effectively ban cheaters. This update marks a significant change for the competitive multiplayer experience.

Unlike many Easy Anti-Cheat implementations, Rocket League will maintain compatibility with the Valve Steam Deck and other Linux gaming PCs through the Proton compatibility layer. Players can disable anti-cheat for offline play, including local LAN multiplayer and split-screen sessions. The implementation will also allow tournament-specific mods and custom community content with anti-cheat enabled at launch.

The April update will also introduce "custom mod-inspired content" to Rocket League alongside the anti-cheat system. This development represents a major shift in how Psyonix approaches security and modding in their flagship title, balancing competitive integrity with community creativity and cross-platform accessibility.
