Valve’s Steam Frame Launch Imminent

Valve has released two of its three planned hardware products, leaving only the Steam Frame VR headset. After launching the Steam Machine and Steam Controller, the eagerly awaited Steam Frame is the final piece of the lineup.

A developer of Gunman Contracts, a shooter game, says the headset’s launch is imminent. He and his publisher, 2080 Games, are waiting for Valve to release the headset before launching their action‑based shooter. The pair plan to launch together and feel confident that a launch date for Frame is “just around the corner,” though Valve has yet to announce any public information.

Valve’s main chip supplier, Qualcomm, has increased processor prices by double‑digit percentages, which will impact the headset’s cost. The original plan called for a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 16 GB of unified LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 1 TB of storage. The price hike forced Valve to delay the Steam Frame launch to stockpile more DRAM and NAND flash to meet demand.

The launch date will coincide with the Steam Frame release, but no official date has been announced yet.
