NVIDIA Slashes GPU Supply to AIC Partners

NVIDIA is reportedly cutting shipments to its add-in-card (AIC) partners by 15-20%, according to a credible industry leaker. AICs receive GPU dies and GDDR memory from NVIDIA as a kit, then build custom PCBs. This supply reduction means partners will have fewer raw components to assemble into finished graphics cards for the market.

The reasoning remains unclear, but speculation points to TSMC capacity being redirected from consumer Blackwell chips to server-grade B200 and B300 processors. This move follows reports of NVIDIA ending production of the RTX 5070 Ti, signaling a potential strategic shift away from the consumer segment. It could tighten supply and influence aftermarket pricing.

Thankfully for partners, NVIDIA continues bundling GDDR7 memory with its GPU kits. Earlier rumors suggested AICs might need to source their own memory from SK Hynix, Samsung, or Micron, but that idea has been debunked. The industry will watch for official statements and the impact on upcoming graphics card availability from major AIC brands like ASUS and MSI.
