NVIDIA unveiled RTX Mega Geometry at GDC 2026 alongside its GeForce RTX 50-series 'Blackwell' GPUs. This technology uses nested triangle clusters to dramatically increase geometric complexity in ray traced scenes while reducing video memory usage. The RT cores in Blackwell GPUs feature hardware-level support for this innovation.

During the showcase, NVIDIA demonstrated Mega Geometry in Alan Wake 2, where it delivered 5-20% frame rate improvements and reduced memory footprint by 300 MB when rendering tens of thousands of ray traced objects. The technology was also previewed in The Witcher 4, rendering forests with thousands of animated trees and millions of objects using unique foliage animations.

NVIDIA also announced that the upcoming 007 First Light game will implement path tracing for enhanced realism through accurate shadows, launching May 27th. Control Resonant, the sequel to the pioneering ray tracing game Control, will similarly feature path tracing implementation.
