NVIDIA is launching a new GeForce RTX 5050 variant with 9GB of GDDR7 memory while maintaining its 130W thermal design power (TDP). This follows reports from leaker @kopite7kimi, confirmed by TechPowerUp. The current RTX 5050 uses 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus for 320GB/s bandwidth; the new model employs three 3GB GDDR7 modules on a 96-bit bus, boosting bandwidth to 336GB/s—a 5% increase. NVIDIA cites supply chain constraints as the driver for the GDDR7 switch, reducing the number of modules needed from four 2GB GDDR6 units to three 3GB GDDR7 modules.

This shift leverages the relative availability of GDDR7 modules compared to the scarcity of GDDR6, easing procurement for the RTX 5050. Computex 2026 is expected to showcase this updated GPU.
