NVIDIA RTX 50 SUPER Delayed by GDDR7 Shortage

NVIDIA's board partners have received GeForce RTX 50 SUPER silicon, but the launch is on hold due to a shortage of 3 GB GDDR7 memory modules. The SUPER series was rumored to feature denser memory, upgrading the RTX 5070 SUPER to 18 GB, and the RTX 5070 Ti SUPER and RTX 5080 SUPER to 24 GB each.

All other specifications remain unchanged. However, 3 GB GDDR7 modules are being prioritized for NVIDIA's high-margin AI GPU portfolio, including the RTX PRO 6000 "Blackwell" and "Rubin CPX," leaving limited supply for consumer cards. Gamers must settle for the regular RTX 50 series with 2 GB GDDR7 modules.

Seasonic's PSU calculator reveals higher power targets: RTX 5080 SUPER at 415 W (+55 W), RTX 5070 Ti SUPER at 350 W (+50 W), and RTX 5070 SUPER at 275 W (+25 W). With no additional CUDA cores, the refresh may offer slight frequency improvements to justify the increased TGP.
