This move targets the competitive sub-$300 market segment, potentially offering the original 12 GB model with a 192-bit bus or the newer 8 GB variant. The decision to revive the older 'Ampere' architecture over the newer RTX 4060 is speculated to be a strategic manufacturing choice.

While the 4060 and current 5060 share the TSMC 4N node, the 3060 utilizes Samsung's 8N process. This suggests NVIDIA aims to utilize mature, fully depreciated manufacturing lines to maximize profitability on legacy silicon without cannibalizing sales of their latest generation hardware.
