Marathon hit the market almost three weeks ago, sparking a mix of excitement and criticism. Despite the chatter, the title has maintained a steady 28,000‑40,000 daily concurrent players. Those numbers translate into an estimated 1.2 million units sold across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, with Steam accounting for roughly two‑thirds of the total.

Alinea Analytics reports that Marathon has generated $55 million in revenue across the three platforms. The firm estimates that Steam alone hosts about 800,000 of those players, while PlayStation 5 sold 217,000 copies and Xbox Series captured 133,000. These figures underscore the title’s commercial traction in a crowded shooter market.

The data also reveal a strong link to Bungie’s earlier titles. About 78.2% of Marathon’s Steam players had previously enjoyed Destiny 2, 62.7% had played Helldivers 2, and 55.9% had experienced Arc Raiders. While those games boasted massive player bases, the overlap suggests that Bungie’s reputation and Steam’s recommendation algorithms drive Marathon’s audience.

Rumors swirl that Marathon could arrive on last‑gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, but no confirmation has surfaced. If the title expands to older hardware, it could broaden its reach beyond the current 1.2 million‑unit core. For now, the game’s sales trajectory confirms that a well‑executed shooter can thrive even amid mixed reviews.
