Desktop solutions provider Kensington just expanded its VeriMark security line, introducing two new hardware authentication keys: the USB-C and USB-A models. Both devices offer phishing-resistant multifactor authentication (MFA) by leveraging public-key cryptography, directly addressing the growing threat of credential theft plaguing modern organizations relying on passwords.

These keys boast FIDO2 Level 2 certification and support the latest CTAP 2.1 protocol, which opens the door for advanced features like resident credentials and cross-platform Passkey integration. Users authenticate via a physical tap, either through the integrated USB port or wirelessly via NFC, ensuring legitimate access attempts are verified physically, not via vulnerable digital credentials.

Durability appears prioritized, as both keys feature an IP68 rating against dust and water intrusion, making them suitable for mobile professionals. Furthermore, they offer broad compatibility across major operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and mobile platforms, simplifying enterprise deployment where diverse device ecosystems exist.

By backing hardware verification with standards like Passkeys, Kensington positions these keys as a direct mechanism for organizations to adopt zero-trust security frameworks effectively. The devices eliminate the primary attack vector—the password—through simple, tap-and-go verification methods.
