Intel has restarted production of its 13th and 14th Generation Core processors, targeting the Chinese PC market. This move aims to supply both original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and DIY PC enthusiasts amidst a high demand for CPUs. The Raptor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh chips are notable for their support of both DDR4 and DDR5 memory, offering flexibility in a tight memory market.

This decision to ramp up production of these specific generations addresses the ongoing global CPU shortage. By reintroducing platforms capable of using readily available DDR4 memory, Intel allows for the reuse of existing capacity while still providing modern performance. The LGA-1700 socket processors, first launched in late 2022, offer up to 24 cores and 32 threads.

The 13th Gen processors set the stage, with the 14th Gen refresh arriving later with minor clock speed improvements, such as the Core i9-14900 KS reaching a 6.2 GHz boost. Intel also plans to increase supply of 10th and 12th Gen CPUs, but the primary focus remains on the more recent 13th and 14th generations, acknowledging the persistent utility of DDR4 platforms globally.
