Intel Foundry Yields Surge Amid 18A Node Refinement

Intel Foundry achieved yield improvements across its Intel 4, Intel 3, and 18A manufacturing nodes during Q1 2026, signaling progress in turning around its foundry division. CFO David Zinsner highlighted reduced waste and higher functional chip output, particularly on the 18A node, which supports Intel’s broader product lineup. The operating loss for Intel Foundry shrank to $2.4 billion in Q1, a $72 million improvement from the prior quarter, driven by better margins from enhanced yields.

However, increased spending on Intel 14A node development offset some gains, as the company accelerates investments to support customer evaluations.
