Intel's Arc B390 integrated graphics have achieved a 12x performance boost and 8x performance-per-watt improvement compared to the company's Gen9 iGPU from 2016. Testing by Phoronix compared Intel's latest Arc B390 with Xe3 cores against previous generations including Kaby Lake, Whiskey Lake, Ice Lake, Tiger Lake, Alder Lake, Meteor Lake, and Lunar Lake.

The performance leap comes from moving from Intel's 14 nm FinFET node to TSMC's 3 nm N3E process. In geometric mean testing across multiple workloads, Intel achieved nearly 12x better performance while improving efficiency by 8x. The Arc B390, found in Intel's Core Ultra X7 358H "Panther Lake" processor, represents the company's most powerful integrated graphics to date.

This massive generational improvement demonstrates Intel's progress in integrated graphics over the past decade. While Lunar Lake achieved the lowest power consumption at 13.82 W average, Panther Lake delivers nearly double the performance at 26.86 W average. The results position Intel's latest integrated graphics as serious contenders in the mobile computing space, potentially reducing the need for discrete graphics in many use cases.
