Intel reported one of its largest quarterly growth results with Q2 2026 revenue reaching $16.1 billion and strong cash flow. CEO Lip-Bu Tan highlighted the 14A node schedule: "We remain on track for 14A risk production for our internal products in the second half of 2027. We decided in Q2 to fully commit to a high-volume ramp in 2028." This is a full year ahead of previous expectations.

The defect rate for 14A is currently at D0=0.5, with the "Panther Lake" compute tile yielding 56.45% at 114.304 mm². Intel targets D0=0.1 by 2028 volume production, boosting yields to 80-90%. The process design kit (PDK) reached version 0.5, with version 0.9 shipping to customers in October for 2H 2027 trial runs.

Intel also increased capital expenditure to over $20 billion this year, primarily for Intel Foundry upgrades and facility updates.
