Espressif Systems has unveiled the ESP32-E22, its first Wi-Fi 6E SoC and a new Radio Co-Processor (RCP) line. This chip integrates tri-band Wi-Fi 6E and dual-mode Bluetooth (Classic & LE 5.4) into a single subsystem, offloading the entire networking stack from a host processor. This allows the main CPU to focus solely on application logic, improving efficiency in complex wireless devices.

Built on Espressif's own RISC-V architecture, the ESP32-E22 supports the 6 GHz spectrum for the first time, delivering up to 2.4 Gbps data rates with 160 MHz channels and 2x2 MU-MIMO. Its integrated coexistence algorithms ensure reliable operation when both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios are active. The chip is designed for high-bandwidth applications like streaming, smart home hubs, and industrial automation.

By managing protocol stacks internally, the ESP32-E22 provides a secure, scalable platform for developers. It connects to host processors via PCIe 2.1 or SDIO 3.0, offering flexibility for integration with Espressif's own SoCs or third-party chips. Engineering samples are now available, signaling Espressif's push into high-performance wireless connectivity for next-gen consumer and industrial products.
