Electronic Arts (EA) has officially returned to private ownership after nearly 36 years on public markets. In September 2025, the gaming giant announced its privatization under a consortium led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), alongside Silver Lake and Affinity Partners.

This significant transaction is valued at $55 billion. As a private entity, EA's strategic decisions will now be made by the consortium, shifting away from the influence of public-market investors. This change is expected to directly impact game development and fund allocation.

Chairman and CEO Andrew Wilson has committed to continued bold investment in future titles. He stated, "We're entering this next chapter from a position of strength with partners who share our vision and ambition. Together, we'll invest boldly, accelerate innovation, and build the next generation of games and experiences for the hundreds of millions of players and fans who inspire us every day."
