EVgo has begun constructing Tesla Superchargers under license, marking a significant expansion of charging access for non-Tesla electric vehicles. The new V4 Superchargers will be accessible to drivers of other EV brands through the Tesla app. EVgo has ensured the cables on these units are sufficiently long to accommodate various vehicle charge port locations, addressing a common issue with V3 chargers.

These EVgo-built Superchargers will be visible in both the EVgo and Tesla applications. EVgo CEO Badar Khan stated this initiative aims to provide more convenient fast-charging options and infrastructure across America to meet rising public charging demand. He expressed anticipation for welcoming Tesla and NACS drivers to the EVgo network.

This development comes as Tesla faces increasing operating costs and invests heavily in areas like robotics and AI, making licensing fees and Supercharger revenue streams valuable. EVgo, however, will continue developing its own next-generation DC fast chargers, with the first units expected by year-end.
