General Motors has struck a deal with Electrify America that will give its drivers access to 5,000 charging stations nationwide through GM-branded apps. The partnership provides Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac owners with real-time availability, route planning, charging session monitoring, and payment options, addressing range anxiety concerns among EV drivers.

GM's energy vice president Wade Sheffer emphasized the industry collaboration to deliver better charging experiences. The automaker also participates in Ionna, a project with seven other companies aiming to install tens of thousands of charging stations nationwide. This positions GM to compete with Tesla's 75,000 Superchargers that can add hundreds of miles of range in about 15 minutes.

Beyond public networks, GM notes drivers can save hundreds to thousands of dollars annually by using home chargers, especially when paired with solar panels. The company maintains access to 250,000 public charging stations across the United States and Canada, while experts estimate EV ownership saves about $1,500 yearly in fuel and maintenance costs compared to gasoline vehicles.
