Kojima Productions' sequel Death Stranding 2: On the Beach finally earned Steam Deck Verified status with the rollout of Patch 1.3. The title already carried a Gold rating on ProtonDB, but players reported illegible text, UI scaling quirks, and intermittent stutters. Official notes confirm the new build meets Valve’s verification criteria, opening the door for a more polished handheld experience.

Patch notes list several performance tweaks, stability patches and bug fixes. Sniper‑rifle hitching and frame‑drop spikes have been tamed, while minor graphical glitches were squashed. Developers also added support for Intel XeSS, AMD FSR 3, the proprietary Pico upscaler and frame‑generation pipelines, giving users more levers to push smoothness on the Deck’s modest GPU.

The game’s “Portable Mode” was designed for handhelds, yet independent tests still show dips below 30 fps in demanding sections. Verification doesn’t guarantee a constant frame‑rate, but the combined UI refinements and upscaling options should make long sessions more tolerable. Players can now purchase the title on Steam with confidence that it meets Valve’s handheld standards.

With the verification badge, the title joins a growing roster of AAA experiences on the Deck, reinforcing the platform’s relevance for premium single‑player adventures. The endorsement also signals to developers that Valve’s handheld ecosystem can handle demanding narratives, encouraging future releases to target the device from day one rather than relying on community patches.
