CXMT, the world's fourth-largest DRAM maker, is reportedly now charging more for its 64 GB DDR5 server RDIMM modules than Samsung, which is asking $1,240 per unit. This development from Reuters contradicts assumptions that CXMT would undercut competitors like Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron on price.

CXMT's previous advantage was not price, but supply availability during a period of extreme demand. With demand surging tenfold, CXMT now faces similar pricing pressures. This situation led some Chinese electronics firms to complain to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology about price hikes from both CXMT and YMTC, citing delays in product launches.

CXMT is expanding significantly, with two new plants in Shanghai and Hefei set to increase monthly wafer output to over 600,000, doubling current capacity. This expansion could see CXMT match Micron's capacity this year and potentially surpass it by 2030. The company reported substantial financial growth in Q1 2026, with revenue up 719% and net profit rising over 1,200%. CXMT forecasts first-half 2026 revenue between $16-$17.7 billion, projecting over 600% growth. A historic IPO is also planned. CXMT currently holds 8-10% of the global DRAM market.
