NACON and Big Bad Wolf have released Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, a narrative investigation game set in the Lovecraftian universe. Players take on the role of Noah, an occult investigator searching for missing miners in the Pacific Ocean depths. The game marks the first video game depiction of the sunken city of R'lyeh.

The story unfolds in 2053, where depleted resources and natural disasters drive industrial giants to deep-sea mining. Noah investigates a silent underwater station with help from KEY, his personal AI companion. KEY serves as a psychological safeguard, preserving Noah's lucidity as he confronts growing horror and the threat of madness.

Players explore R'lyeh's cyclopean architecture using tools like sonar, energy-based analysis, and a clue vault. The game features artifacts and upgrades that enhance investigation abilities but can be destroyed by player choices. Each decision impacts Noah's corruption level and the investigation's outcome, with most chapters offering alternative resolutions that affect the story's conclusion.
