Assassin's Creed Hexe is undergoing significant combat system changes deep into development at Ubisoft Montreal. According to Insider Gaming podcast host Tom Henderson, the studio has brought in a contortionist for motion capture work as part of the rework. The game, which has been in development since 2022, is now targeting a 2027 release despite these late-stage changes.

Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind Hexe, recently faced turmoil after the cancellation of the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake. The game was originally directed by Clint Hocking, known for Far Cry 2 and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, but he departed during recent franchise restructuring. Despite these setbacks, Ubisoft has confirmed Hexe remains on track.

Recent teasers suggest Hexe will explore witchcraft and horror themes set in Germany, marking a darker tone for the franchise. The combat rework indicates Ubisoft is willing to delay major titles to ensure quality, even at the cost of extending development timelines. With the 2027 target now confirmed, fans will need to wait longer for this supernatural entry in the Assassin's Creed series.
