Apricorn has upgraded its Aegis Secure Key 3.0, a USB‑form factor SSD that now reaches 2TB capacity, almost four times typical flash drives. The refreshed model ships with a new bridge controller delivering up to 31% faster writes (210 MB/s) and 16% higher reads (220 MB/s). These gains aim at enterprises that move large, sensitive datasets across air‑gapped or remote endpoints, making them practical for field teams.

The device has been submitted for FIPS 140-3 Level 3 validation under NIST’s CMVP, positioning it for federal agencies, defense contractors and regulated sectors such as healthcare and finance. Beyond compliance, Apricorn added an environmental protection circuit that powers down the key when temperature or voltage stray beyond safe limits, then resumes operation once conditions normalize, safeguarding both hardware and encrypted data.

Maintaining its hallmark tamper‑resistant chassis, hardware encryption and software‑free authentication, the ASK3 targets users who need portable, rugged storage that won’t compromise security under harsh conditions. Availability runs through Apricorn’s global reseller network, with a fully validated configuration announced after NIST completes its review. The upgrade delivers a tangible performance jump while extending durability for mission‑critical workloads.
