Apple has unveiled the latest 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro powered by the new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, delivering up to 4x faster AI performance compared to the previous generation. The chips feature a new CPU with the world's fastest core, a next-generation GPU with Neural Accelerators in each core, and higher unified memory bandwidth. This enables professionals to run advanced AI workloads locally with unprecedented speed.

Both models start with increased storage—1TB for M5 Pro and 2TB for M5 Max—and offer up to 2x faster SSD performance reaching 14.5 GB/s. The laptops include Apple's new N1 wireless chip enabling Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, plus up to 24 hours of battery life. The Liquid Retina XDR display features 1600 nits peak HDR brightness, while connectivity options include Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI 8K support, and MagSafe 3.

The M5 Pro and M5 Max chips deliver substantial performance gains across creative and technical workloads. M5 Pro offers up to 7.8x faster AI image generation and 6.9x faster LLM prompt processing compared to M1 Pro, while M5 Max achieves up to 8x faster AI image generation and 6.7x faster LLM processing versus M1 Max. These improvements enable developers to train custom models locally and creative professionals to leverage AI-powered tools for video editing, music production, and design work.
