AMD has opened worldwide sales of its Radeon RX 9070 GRE graphics card at a launch price of $550. Previously a China‑only SKU, the GPU fills the performance gap between the 16 GB RX 9060 XT and the higher‑end RX 9070. Built on the 4 nm “Navi 48” die, the GRE variant trims the full chip to 48 compute units and a 192‑bit memory bus.

The card packs 3,072 stream processors, 48 ray‑tracing cores, 96 AI accelerators and 12 GB of 18 Gbps GDDR6 delivering 437 GB/s bandwidth, plus 48 MB of Infinity Cache. Core clocks run at 2.20 GHz base and boost to 2.79 GHz. AMD’s own benchmarks claim a 22 % speed advantage and a 26 % performance‑price edge over Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti, which retails for $570.

AMD will ship the RX 9070 GRE through its AIB partners—Sapphire, PowerColor, ASRock, XFX, GIGABYTE, Acer and ASUS—starting June 1. By positioning the card as a 1440p‑ready solution, AMD challenges Nvidia’s 1080p‑focused offering and gives budget‑conscious gamers a stronger alternative at a similar price point. The launch expands AMD’s mid‑range lineup ahead of the next generation.

With the GRE’s reduced compute unit count, power draw stays modest, aiding system builders who prioritize thermals and efficiency. Early reviews suggest the card holds its own in demanding titles at 1440p, confirming AMD’s strategy to capture the sweet spot between entry‑level and high‑end segments.
