AMD EXPO 1.2 launches with CUDIMM support, Zen 6 required

AMD officially launched Extended Profiles for Overclocking version EXPO 1.2, expanding DDR5 memory tuning capabilities for the Zen 5 platform. The update adds support for CUDIMM, CSODIMM, and MRDIMM module types while introducing advanced timing parameters like tREFI, tRRDS, tWR, and Unified Latency Lock. Current Zen 5 processors on AM5 sockets can access the new profiles, though complete CUDIMM functionality requires next-generation Zen 6 chips.

EXPO 1.2 integrates with AMD's AGESA firmware, but version 1.3.0.1 stops short of full CUDIMM DDR5 compatibility. Zen 5 CPUs must rely on traditional memory controllers rather than onboard clock drivers for the new modules. AMD developer 1usmus detailed additions including module geometry support and VDDP(V) voltage controls. The company also added Chinese manufacturers like RAMXEED Limited Conexant and Rui Xuan to address DRAM shortages.

ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR, STRIX, PROART, and TUF X870 series motherboards now receive beta BIOS 2301 with EXPO 1.2 support. These boards offer partial CUDIMM compatibility, though documentation remains sparse. Fujitsu Synaptics joins the expanded memory vendor list alongside established brands. Zen 6 processors will unlock full onboard clock driver support for CUDIMM modules, delivering the complete memory tuning experience AMD promises.
