Adtran has expanded its SDG 8700 Series to bring Wi-Fi 7 to a wider range of residential service tiers. The company introduced new 2.5Gbit/s and 10Gbit/s Wi-Fi 7 platforms designed for everything from entry-level to premium offerings across residential, SMB, MDU and community Wi-Fi deployments.

Wi-Fi 7 is quickly becoming a baseline requirement rather than a premium differentiator as service providers enter a new access refresh cycle. The expanded portfolio includes third-generation dual-band and tri-band Wi-Fi 7 gateways with 2.5GbE and 10GbE connectivity options. Built on Adtran's SmartOS platform, the devices support Intellifi, TR-369 and Plume for flexible subscriber experience management.

"Service providers are telling us the decision to adopt Wi-Fi 7 has already been made. The real challenge is deploying it widely and consistently," said Christoph Glingener, CTO of Adtran. The launch builds on the FCC's recent conditional approval of Adtran's SDG portfolio, supporting continued broadband rollout momentum. The expanded series enables providers to modernize at scale while maintaining consistent operations across their networks.
