Porsche flipped the script by debuting its new 911 Cup race car first as a $11.95 DLC in iRacing before the physical version hit tracks. This $375,000 hardcore racer builds on the GT3 foundation by stripping the interior and reshaping bodywork for more downforce. Porsche made cost concessions with replaceable front splitter sections and simpler bumpers.

Digital driving at home provided preparation before experiencing the real thing. The iRacing version captures realistic physics, sound, and handling improvements over previous 911 simulations. The virtual Sebring laps revealed the new Cup car feels more settled than its predecessors—a trait that would prove valuable when transitioning to the physical car.

The real 911 Cup features a single-clutch sequential gearbox requiring clutch engagement for first gear only. Despite deafening exhaust noise and stiff suspension, the car proved remarkably tractable and composed. The Pirelli P Zero DHG slick tires delivered great feedback, making this race car accessible enough for introducing new talent to endurance racing.
