Google Workspace CLI: OpenClaw AI Tool Integration

Google has launched a new command line tool for Workspace that bundles cloud APIs into an AI-friendly package. The Google Workspace CLI allows developers to integrate with tools like OpenClaw and create automated workflows using natural language commands. This follows Google's earlier Gemini CLI launch, showing the company's push toward AI-powered command line interfaces.

However, the tool comes with significant caveats. Google explicitly states this GitHub project is "not an officially supported product," meaning users are on their own if something breaks. The company warns that functionality may change dramatically as the CLI evolves, potentially disrupting existing workflows. Despite these risks, the tool includes APIs for every Workspace product including Gmail, Drive, and Calendar.

The Google Cloud director Addy Osmani highlights that Workspace CLI supports structured JSON outputs and includes more than 40 agent skills. The tool is designed for both human developers and AI agents, with a clear emphasis on agentic systems that can create command line inputs and parse JSON outputs. Integrated capabilities include loading and creating Drive files, sending emails, managing Calendar appointments, and sending chat messages.
