Some people are cursed with motion sickness, making it impossible to use a phone in a moving vehicle. A simple trick can help, and Google’s version is finally coming to Android. Motion sickness stems from a mismatch between your inner ear and eyes.

As part of iOS 18 in 2024, Apple released Motion Cues, a feature using moving dots to ease nausea. Google’s similar feature, Motion Assist, was tested internally in 2024 but is now appearing on Pixel phones running Android 17.

The feature is delivered via Play Services in a staged rollout, with no app or update to install. It adds dots around the screen edges, using the phone’s accelerometer and gyroscope to move in sync with the vehicle’s motion—mimicking real-world visual cues.
