Framework Laptop 16 Design Refinements

Framework is refining its Laptop 16 with upgrades addressing user complaints. The modular laptop manufacturer introduced a new CPU option and cosmetic refinements to make its workstation appear less like a prototype and more like a finished product.

The new Ryzen AI 5 340 processor reduces the starting price to $1,599 for pre-built systems or $1,249 for the DIY Edition. While less significant than changes to the Framework Laptop 13 Pro, these updates show the company responding to user feedback with practical improvements.

Most notably, Framework replaced the modular keyboard and trackpad sections with single-piece modules. This design change eliminates the need for additional spacers that gave the laptop an unfinished appearance. The new centered trackpad particularly improves the laptop's aesthetic and functionality.

These changes represent Framework's effort to balance its modular philosophy with consumer expectations of a polished product. The one-piece components suggest the company understands that upgradeability shouldn't come at the cost of a refined appearance.
